A Legacy Forged on the Water

JRS Racing (1970s–1985)

The foundation of our racing heritage was laid along the shoreline in the 1970s, where John Jensen, Scott Jensen, and Ron Brown Jr. grew up watching their fathers fiercely compete on the water. These wide-eyed kids, too young to race, absorbed the passion and discipline of powerboat racing, nurturing a dream of carrying on that tradition.

That dream became a reality in 1985 with the formation of JRS Racing. The team quickly established a strong reputation, competing at high levels and becoming a respected name in the sport. However, that chapter was put on hold when John Jensen suffered a devastating, career-ending injury that forced the team to step away from the circuit to focus on family and the growing demands of the Island Lake Marine business. While the racing paused, the competitive spirit never faded.

The Revival

Island Lake Marine & Sports Race Team

In 2019, the family decided it was time to revive the legacy. The torch was passed to the next generation, with Jared and JB Jensen joining original founders John Jensen, Scott Jensen, and Ronnie Brown Jr. The team was formally rebranded as the Island Lake Marine & Sports Race Team, honoring the JRS Racing roots while simultaneously writing a bold new chapter.

Today, the team actively competes across multiple high-speed classes:

• F1 Powerboat Class: Our premier entry competes in the high-stakes, adrenaline-fueled F1 circuit. This class demands unparalleled engineering, precision driving, and maximum performance, perfectly reflecting our commitment to quality in our dealership.
• Texas Trihull Class: The team also races a classic Texas Trihull entry, keeping the foundational traditions of the sport alive and showcasing versatility across different racing styles.

The Island Lake Marine & Sports Race Team is more than a competitor; it is a live-action testament to our decades of marine expertise and our enduring family commitment to speed, performance, and the sheer thrill of watercraft at their limit. This legacy of competition directly informs the quality and performance standards we uphold every day in our showrooms and service centers.
